27 Apr Is Jesus in Your Boat?
The Resolve
I smiled when I heard my mum singing this song one morning “with Jesus in my boat, I can smile at the storm”. That song began to minister to me immediately.
It doesn’t matter the pressure of life or the storm that comes up against you, the question is, “Is Jesus in your boat? “. You will wonder how Jesus slept in a boat that was badly hit by the storm. People were wailing, afraid and worried but He was asleep. (Matt 8:23-27)
There’s a level we come into with God that no matter the turmoil, the wave of the sea, we will be at rest and this is because of His presence.
Many of us are tired because we have not invited Jesus in our boats. We keep running away from His Presence, we feel we can figure it out somehow. But he keeps calling…
Isaiah 55:1 KJV
“Now, is any one thirsty? come ye to the waters, and which of you have l no money; come, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price”.
The Importance of God’s Presence
1. Power to live above the situation
To be still, peaceful and hopeful right there in the storm. This may look easy but the enemy intends to keep us overwhelmed, and fearful. His aim is simple, to make us doubt God. This is a place where many have come and lost their faith, passion for life and purpose, and eventually, they give up on God. God’s presence shields us from experiencing these. He keeps us in perfect peace despite what we go through.
2. Power to change the situation
“then He arose and rebuked the sea and there was a great calm.”(Matt 8:26). There’s no depth that God can’t reach. There’s no cycle that God can’t pull us from. He specializes in doing the impossible. Even the winds obey Him. The foundations of this world are discovered at His rebuke. He is all-powerful. Trusting God to do it is where faith comes in and Faith doesn’t come by having a pity party, surrounding yourself with negative people, stories, or songs but arming yourself with The Victory stories that Christ has won for you.
3. His Presence awakens our Faith to stand even when He doesn’t do it.
After all, He said “Let thy will be done”. We must come to a resolve that though He may not grant me what I’m asking for, I will stand with Christ come what may, I will still Fellowship with my brothers and sisters, my faith will not grow cold, I won’t be tired, I will keep pressing on because even those things don’t stop Him from loving me. His ways are not my ways, His concern for me is way deeper than “things”(Isaiah 55:5)
For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Rom 8:38-39
Hallelujah!
No matter what comes our way, we will be standing. We will proclaim the praises of the Lord. More and more crises will come, things will come up against our faith but we need to get to a place of being deeply rooted and understanding that nothing can separate us from the love of God. Amen.
