Purity (An Imperative for Manifestation and Finishing Strong)

Purity of heart, conduct and lifestyle is an imperative for the FINISH.

What is Purity?

Purity is freedom from adulteration or contamination. It is freedom from immorality, especially of a sexual nature. (Oxford Languages)

Ephesians 5:25-27 (AMP)

“Husbands, love your wives [seek the highest good for her and surround her with a caring, unselfish love], just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her,  so that He might sanctify the church, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word [of God],  so that [in turn] He might present the church to Himself in glorious splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be holy [set apart for God] and blameless.”

Matthew 5:8 – “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.”

On the Last Day

Matthew 13:40-43 (AMP)

“So just as the weeds are gathered up and burned in the fire, so will it be at the end of the age. 41 The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend [those things by which people are led into sin], and all who practice evil [leading others into sin], 42 and will throw them into the furnace of fire; in that place there will be weeping [over sorrow and pain] and grinding of teeth [over distress and anger]. 43 Then the righteous [those who seek the will of God] will shine forth [radiating the new life] like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears [to hear], let him hear and heed My words.”

Purity in this Season

Malachi 3:1-5 (LB)

“Listen: I will send my messenger before me to prepare the way. And then the One[a] you are looking for will come suddenly to his Temple—the Messenger of God’s promises, to bring you great joy. Yes, he is surely coming,” says the Lord Almighty. “But who can live when he appears? Who can endure his coming? For he is like a blazing fire refining precious metal, and he can bleach the dirtiest garments! Like a refiner of silver he will sit and closely watch as the dross is burned away. He will purify the Levites, the ministers of God, refining them like gold or silver, so that they will do their work for God with pure hearts. Then once more the Lord will enjoy the offerings brought to him by the people of Judah and Jerusalem, as he did before. At that time my punishments will be quick and certain; I will move swiftly against wicked men who trick the innocent, against adulterers and liars, against all those who cheat their hired hands, who oppress widows and orphans, or defraud strangers, and do not fear me,” says the Lord Almighty.”

What are Contaminants?

Galatians 5:19-21 (AMP)

“Now the practices of the sinful nature are clearly evident: they are sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality (total irresponsibility, lack of self-control), idolatry, sorcery, hostility, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions [that promote heresies], envy, drunkenness, riotous behavior, and other things like these. I warn you beforehand, just as I did previously, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.”

Galatians 5:19-21 (LB)

“But when you follow your own wrong inclinations, your lives will produce these evil results: impure thoughts, eagerness for lustful pleasure, idolatry, spiritism (that is, encouraging the activity of demons), hatred and fighting, jealousy and anger, constant effort to get the best for yourself, complaints and criticisms, the feeling that everyone else is wrong except those in your own little group—and there will be wrong doctrine, envy, murder, drunkenness, wild parties, and all that sort of thing. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.”

2 Timothy 3:1-5 (LB)

You may as well know this too, Timothy, that in the last days it is going to be very difficult to be a Christian. For people will love only themselves and their money; they will be proud and boastful, sneering at God, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful to them, and thoroughly bad. They will be hardheaded and never give in to others; they will be constant liars and troublemakers and will think nothing of immorality. They will be rough and cruel, and sneer at those who try to be good. They will betray their friends; they will be hotheaded, puffed up with pride, and prefer good times to worshiping God. They will go to church, yes, but they won’t really believe anything they hear. Don’t be taken in by people like that.”

7 Tips for Cultivating Purity

  1. Desire Purity

Philippians 4:8-9: Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.

  1. Love and focus on the word of God

Psalm 119:9 – How can a young man keep his way pure? By keeping it according to Your word.

  1. Keep renewing your mind

Romans 12:1-2: Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

  1. Have self control

Proverbs 25:28 – Like a city whose walls are broken through is a person who lacks self-control.

2 Peter 1:5-8 – For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

  1. Be accountable and keep good company

Hebrews 10:25 – And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.

1 Corinthians 15:33 – Do not be deceived: “Bad company corrupts good character.”

  1. Keep walking in the spirit

Galatians 5:16-17 – “I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish”.

  1. Keep off seemingly harmless habits, behaviours and practices

1 Corinthians 6:12: I can do anything I want to if Christ has not said no,[a] but some of these things aren’t good for me. Even if I am allowed to do them, I’ll refuse to if I think they might get such a grip on me that I can’t easily stop when I want to.

Galatians 5:13: You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh.

PRAYER

  • Prayer Forgiveness: Father, forgive us from every impure act and conduct that exists in our records in Jesus name.
  • Prayer of Repentance: We repent and turn from every act, conduct and habit that cause impurities in our lives.
  • Break lingering bondages to impurity in our lives, families and Kingdom Community in Jesus name.
  • Judge and remove everything that masquerades as righteousness in our lives and community in Jesus name.
  • Expose everything unclean that has been hidden in Jesus name.
  • Increase the fear of the Lord in us in Jesus name.
  • Release new determination for us to walk to the end of time in purity in Jesus name.
  • Let there be celebration of purity in our families and kingdom community as the world cascades into moral decadence in Jesus name.
