God gave me a job that matched my exact prayers—to work in a startup, grow with the company, and love what I do.
God has truly been good to me. When I returned to Abuja in September, He told me, “I need your time this season.” So, I chose not to take a full-time job and focused instead on flexible remote roles, trusting Him for provision despite many financial responsibilities.
Months passed, and I hadn’t begun the projects God had spoken to me about. I felt stuck and unfulfilled. Then, I applied for a remote role, did well in the interview, and was excited—until my phone was stolen on the way home. As a content manager, that phone was my office. Yet, God gave me peace. I went to church that evening, and the message spoke directly to my heart. Pastor prayed with me, and I chose to keep trusting God.
Three months went by without a new phone. I worked everywhere with my laptop—even to social events. During the January fast, Pastor asked us to write our desires. I poured my heart out—fifteen requests in total. During one service, I was weeping when God said, “You have asked for what you wanted.” I realized I needed to be specific, so I prayed, “Lord, I want two phones—double for my trouble—and a job.”
Soon after, God led me to update my portfolio. Not long later, I saw a job advert, applied, and got an interview within two hours. On my way there, I fell into a manhole and arrived limping and bleeding—but I still went! Without my printed CV, I showed my portfolio, and they were so impressed that they offered me a senior position next to the branch manager. I had applied for a lower role, but God lifted me higher.
That same week, one client ended our contract but paid me triple; another client who owed me for months paid everything at once. When I checked my balance, I had enough to buy a phone. Just before I did, my new company gave me an official phone—two phones, exactly as I’d asked!
Within a month, 90% of the requests I had written during the fast were answered. God gave me a job that matched my exact prayers—to work in a startup, grow with the company, and love what I do. The only thing I forgot to specify was a higher salary—lesson learned!
What I learned: Be specific in your prayers. God listens and answers in detail.
With love,
Favour that surrounds like a shield.
